SUMMARY:4th Annual Give the Gift of Living: 2025 Gear and Goods Drive
DESCRIPTION:The Franklin County and North Quabbin Emergency Services for Unhoused Individuals Task Force launched the 4th Annual “Give the Gift of Living: 2025 Gear and Goods Drive” from November 17 to December 22\, 2025. \nThis effort aims to provide essential gear and goods and to raise funds to purchase items for distribution to unhoused individuals in our rural area who lack access to emergency shelter services. This need is great as Franklin County and the North Quabbin region\, which spans 30 communities\, have only one emergency shelter for individuals in Greenfield. It is currently full.\n \nYou will find more information about it below. \n\n\n\nThe 2025 Gear and Goods Drive flyer can be found here. \n\n\n\n\nA list of needed donations can be found here. \n\n\n\n\nFinancial donations are gladly accepted. Please click here to make them via the Interfaith Council of Franklin County. In the Fund drop-down menu\, choose “Opioid Task Force Gear and Goods Campaign.” \n\n\nWe are grateful to those who have already donated. Thank you. We have received multiple items\, which we are inventorying and getting back out to the community as soon as possible.

SUMMARY:Language Matters: Anti-Stigma and Harm Reduction
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an engaging and thought-provoking virtual presentation on Wednesday\, November 19\, 2026\, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM\, exploring how language shapes our understanding of substance use\, influences stigma\, and impacts the effectiveness of harm reduction efforts. You can register for this free event here. \nFeaturing Karen Carmona\, Program Associate of the Opioid Task Force of Franklin County and the North Quabbin Region\, and Pedro Alvarez\, Director of Harm Reduction at Tapestry\, this presentation will explore how the language we use to engage with others can foster connection\, demonstrate mutual respect\, and enable us to collaborate on creating healthy outcomes. \nWe’ll also explore how stigma and stigmatizing language impact people’s ability to access harm reduction\, obtain employment and housing\, and seek and receive effective healthcare\, among other key life needs. By participating in this discussion\, you’ll learn about person-first language\, ways to dismantle stigma\, and build connections and hope. \nThis is part of the CONNECT 2025-2026 Education and Training Series. If you have questions or need more information\, please contact Nicole St. Hilaire\, Outreach Manager for CONNECT\, at nicole@opioidtaskforce.org. \n
